On June 23rd, Judy Dennee hosted my GA baby shower. As you can see in the pics she did a great job decorating and the food was awesome. We played a couple of games-such as guessing how big my belly was with yarn and who can guess the most baby objects on the plate (only looking for 15 seconds). Everyone got me some awesome gifts and Sean and I feel truly blessed to have all these wonderful people in our lives. Some of the gifts included our diaper genie, bumbo seat, clothes, diapers, blankets, toys, a bear that plays peek-a-boo, and a ton of other cool things. Thanks Judy for a beautiful shower and thanks to all the gals who came out to bless our baby Braxton. Tonya couldn’t come to the shower so she dropped off an amazing homemade gift a couple days before. She made us a cool TN rag quilt and put the baby’s ultrasound picture on it. I love it and it will be used daily probably!! Also Lily came to hang out with Lucy and Ty and had the time of her life. It was hot but that did not slow them down much!
So since we cancelled our cable a while back, all I really watch now is Netflix or Youtube. I have been watching Youtube alot for momma/baby information and seeing alot of vlogs on “baby buys”, “baby hauls”, and “mommy/baby faves” so I decided I wanted to join in. Don’t really see myself as a vlogger so I will just blog about them. I wanted to start by doing a fave post and since this idea came into June I will just combine 2 months.
So let’s start with Mommy or “soon to be mommy” faves My favorite things over the past month of course have been feeling Braxton kick so much more than normal. Especially at night and when I go to the pool to sit and teach aquatics at work, he goes crazy. It is so nuts to see my belly actually deform and move, but I love every minute of it. As far as products, etc goes, some of my faves have been Baby Lips gloss, Physician Formula eye shadows and mascara (no parabens, phalates, etc), Dr. Bronners Baby mild and almond all natural soaps, Shea Moisture Lotion and Deep Treatment for hair, and coconut oil. I am actually trying to go all natural with all my body/face and household products as you can tell by some of the brands above. Since watching alot more vlogs, some of these baby products and body products I have always used are so full of chemicals and cannot be healthy on a longterm basis for me or for baby. I have actually really loved using Dr. Bronners soaps and now use for my face and body. Sean says he likes them too. Still have some products that I am trying to use up but slowly I will get all the parabens out of this house! The coconut oil I have been using not just for cooking but for an eye makeup remover and moisturizer-can’t beat it for all natural!
As far as household product faves, I have been using baking soda and vinegar for alot more things as far as cleaning and now using Mrs Meyers products. The honeysuckle, lavender, and Basil scents smell great and they really seem to clean well.
As far as Baby goes-his faves have been BLTs and Nutella!!!
As far as Sean-his faves have been graduating from college (June 27) and anything Apple. His MacBook Pro is here for his graduation present and he has got some cool accessories for it. He also is enjoying selling some stuff on ebay as well.
Faves for youtube or blogs have been (to name a few)-candidmommy, iamamommyof1, mommytips by cole, fluffywanderings, and atxmom.
So that is some of my favorites for the past months.
So this morning I went to the Baby Shower Expo in Atlanta. It was an expo with tons of vendors for babies and moms, games, giveaways and guest speakers. Dr. Oz and his wife were actually speakers but of course the price to hear them was a little outrageous. I purchased a deluxe ticket for $25 which got me into the exhibit hall and the diaper party-sorry Dr. Oz your loss on meeting Dr. Wallace . I got there around 10:15 and started wondering around the exhibit hall signing up for giveaways, talking to vendors, getting free stuff and learning about new products. The vendors ranged from baby food (lots of organic), clothing, gear, and cord banks to diaper cakes, mother products, gear, fitness, etc. They even had several photographers there to take maternity or baby pics, belly casters, lactation consultants, support groups, etc. ”The Bump” was there along with known names like Chico, Enfamil, Ergo Baby, Buy Buy Baby, Mary Kay, Scentsy, 31, and Pottery Barn. By the time 11 rolled around the Giant Diaper Party had started, so I made my way, already with a haul of free stuff to that area. They played silly little games and gave away gift cards. The final prize was a very nice bassinet. The question was- “what is the number one nursery rhyme?” I actually got to guess because 5 or 6 women before me guessed wrong. Well so did I and finally about 4 guesses after me, a girl finally guessed “Humpty Dumpty”. Everyone forgot about the poor broken egg and guessed “twinkle, twinkle” and “mary had a little lamb”. After that I walked around some more and then stopped in to watch some of the dads-to-be make fools of themselves in some of the games they were playing-so funny! Then finally listened in on a really informative seminar by one of the lactation consultants. After that this girl was pooped and of course upper back was talking to me, so I headed home. When I got home I went through all my stuff. As you can see, I got a lot of free stuff. The Vera Bradley bag retailed at $8 and the photo book at $14 and the baby legs at $12 so after 3 products my ticket was more than paid for. I also got 2 bottles, a swaddler, a burp cloth, organic cotton wash cloth, 6 pacifiers, tons of samples of aveeno, samples of baby food/snacks, vitamins, calcium/fiber supplements, formula, 4 reusable bags, lotions and rubs, sunscreen, 2 sun detectors (a keychain and a bracelet), a relaxing CD magazines, and an Anne Geddes first 5 year book. And of course tons of information, pamphlets, and coupons. Overall, I had a great time and got some cool stuff, but boy am I ready for a nap!
