Pine Mtn #2 and recap of week #4
Yesterday, Sean, Lily, and I as well as the Knox family + John, went on another hike up Pine Mountain. This time we went up to the Summit then back around all the Loops except Cooper’s Furnace. The total hike was probably about 5-6 miles (up and down hill most of the way). The weather was little cool, and felt awesome..not so hot as last weekend. The pic above was the wallace family in front of this cool curled up tree we saw. The highlight of the day was when we got to the top, there was like 30 people up there including a group of boy scouts. Lily was in heaven, because all the little boys wanted to pet her. Well when we heard they were getting ready to leave, we knew we needed to get in front of the crowd. Lily saw one of the little boys take off down the hill and there she goes…with my ARM!! She drug me a little way and then I had to grab onto a tree to stop. Everyone up there started saying “wooooooooo” and one old lady yelled and laughed “who’s walking who??”. It was so hilarious. She is the strongest little booger ever. Overall she did awesome yesterday, had the best time leading the way, playing in the streams, and running up the hills!!!
Afterwards she practically died.. she slept all day! Mommy took a nap as well.
Today was the end of week 4 of the new me! One month down and I have had great results!! I really wish I had measured initally so I could determine inches lost, but did not. Overall, I have lost 24 lbs in 2 months and 9-10 lbs this last month. I have averaged 2lbs a week except this week I lost 3lbs! I was able to get in the back of my closet to get out some pants that I had put up because they were too small…not any more!!! I haven’t weighed what I way today since HS. I might have weighed close to this 5-6 years ago, but don’t remember. This month I have also shaved 1 minute off my PR of 1 mile and almost 1:30 off 2 miles. Today I was able to run 5.5 miles with a PR of under 61 minutes. My miles were really slow, but I think I had 5.5 miles in the back of my head as well as fatigue from all the hiking yesterday. Overall it felt pretty good. The only problem was my lovely phone died before 2 miles, so no music and on Sunday’s there is nothing on TV. Luckily there was a trainer in the gym trying to kill someone, so I listed to him and used it as motivation!! Thanks dude!! I iced my knees when I got home and took some ibuprofen just in case. My right hip is sore and knees are tired, but overall pretty good. We will see tomorrow how I feel. I have been combining BFL and Hal Higdon’s training plan and I think it is working pretty good. I plan on using his plan to train for a 1/2 marathon in 1-2 weeks and may combine one I found in Fitness mag. I found a 1/2 in Dalton in October that sounds like a great goal!! We will see though. 13.1 is a long way! So there we go, it has been a great month so far and really getting into it so no chance of falling off the wagon I don’t think anytime soon. Getting that high while running/exercising ya know. Wish me luck next weekend…here I come 10K.
