Quad Core Build Feb 2008
I’ve been meaning to get around to posting about this for quite some time. So here it is. This was the original build of the very computer that I’m typing this on now. It is an Intel Quad Core with 8 GB of DDR-2 Ram, 160GB SATA OS Drive, 2 750GB storage drives in RAID 0 (I know and I don’t care), and a 1.5 TB external storage drive. This was originally intended to be my main music PC and thus I installed Leopard OS X on it with Logic Pro 8. Since then I have returned to school and don’t have very much time for music and so it is now running Win7 (which is pretty darn good I must say). Anyhow, I just wanted to post up some pics I found of the build. Maybe I will post up some of the HTPC Build (already updated the case for it).
10 Reason to build an HTPC
* Cost – As chipsets with HD capable integrated graphics processors enter the market, the cost of the system can be a fraction of a high-end commercial solution such as TiVo.
* Quality – HTPCs can rival high end dedicated devices.
* Features – such as pause live tv, usually a feature of high end dedicated devices.
* Digital media recorder
* Media server – The HTPC can serve media files to other computers / devices on a network.
* Gaming – Plays any PC game and application within the game or application’s system requirements.
* Other media – HTPCs can store photo albums and play other media files.
* Other functions – other functions may include weather forecast, online radio streams, TV schedule, webcam, etc.
* Other software – other software, such as downloading or file serving, can be run, perhaps in the background.
* All-In-One – The features found in a HTPC would usually require more than one dedicated component.
Michael Jackson dead at 50
Yesterday, while at work I heard the news that Michael Jackson had passed away. My head immediately filled with all my favorite songs he had written. The Jackson’s have given us so many great records over the years and we will miss him greatly. I know that in the latter years of his life it seems he was always surrounded in some controversy but let’s not forget all the good things he did for charities and people all over the world. He was truly a musical genius and if there isn’t at least one song of his you like …. well you know crap about good music. R.I.P. King of Pop!
